From Jeff Carter:This tournament is dedicated to the memory of one of the most special persons to grace my life, Mary Teubner. Mary was an incredible mother, wife, businessperson, and friend. Mary lost her battle with intestinal cancer on June 9, 2001. Things haven't been the same since. Mary's voice always seemed to make you feel better. Mary's face always brightened up your day. Mary was always there to lend a hand to her family and friends, and that's what made her so special. She seemed to always put others in front of herself. I decided to name this event in her honor and devote my time to raising money to help find a cure for this devastating disease. With the help of local sponsors, our many Pro-Am bowlers and countless other contributors, we have been able to raise an average of $10,000 per year in Mary's name. Please support the sponsors that have contributed to this event. Without their help we wouldn't be able to make the monetary contributions that we've been able to make so far. By supporting the sponsors of the Mary Teubner Memorial Open, you are supporting the fight against cancer, and most importantly, helping us celebrate Mary's life. From Mary's Husband, Ken:Mary Teubner lost her battle with intestinal cancer on June 9, 2001 at the age of 41. Mary left behind a husband of 21 years, Ken, and two daughters: Amy, age 14, and Jennifer, age 19. Mary lived a life full of enthusiasm and hope. She was happiest with family--not just her own, but nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was especially proud of the accomplishments of her daughters, both in the classroom and in athletics. Mary was a graduate of Springfield High School in 1977, and lived in Central Illinois for most of her life. She was also a major business person in the community. Rising from a job as a teller at Illinois National Bank right out of high school, she became President of Town & Country Mortgage Company in the mid-1990's. Mary was involved in several orgainzations including Habitat for Humanity, Williamsville Planning Commission, and Women in Management. Jennifer is now 22 years old and recently graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Amy recently turned 17 years old and will be a Senior at Williamsville High School. She is a member of the school cross country team, and the academic honor roll. On behalf of my daughters, I would like to thank all of the participants, sponsors, workers and fans for honoring Mary. I'm sure she is smiling at all of you. Thank you, Ken Teubner |
